Concert Band and Jazz Band
Concert band and jazz band ensembles meet before and during the school day. We are always happy to have new members join us. Anyone interested should get in contact with Mr. Alford for information. No matter what ensemble you are apart of, outside of school practice is crucial to hone the skills learned in class. After school rehearsals and concerts may also be required as well.

Middle School Band Classes
Band 6: Beginning Band
No prerequisites
Beginning Band introduces basic techniques of instrument playing and music reading. Students are given an opportunity at the beginning of the year to try different instruments before settling on one.
Band 7: Intermediate Band
Completion of Band 6 or Mr. Alford's recommendation
Intermediate Band is a continuation of the skills developed from Beginning Band while moving into slightly harder Grade II music.
Band 8: Advanced Band
Completion of Band 7 or Mr. Alford's recommendation
Advanced Band is a continuation of the skills developed from Intermediate Band while moving into slightly harder Grade III music.
Middle School Jazz Band (7th and 8th)
Recommendation from Mr. Alford
Jazz Band is for students with an interest in "pop" music in the traditional "big band" style. This is a zero period class that meets before school. Transportation must be provided.
High School Band Classes
Symphonic Band without Marching
Completion of Band 8
Symphonic Band requires the highest degree of performance from each member, routinely playing music from grades IV to VI. Marching Band is not a requirement and the course is worth 1 credit.
Symphonic Band with Marching
Completion of Band 8
Symphonic Band requires the highest degree of performance from each member, routinely playing music from grades IV to VI. Marching Band is a requirement and the course is worth 1.5 credits.
High School Jazz Band
Recommendation from Mr. Alford
Jazz Band is for students with an interest in "pop" music in the traditional "big band" style. This is a zero period class that meets before school. Transportation must be provided. This course is worth 1 credit.
