The Marching Highlanders are one of the most visual and noticeable ensembles offered at Glenvar.  High school students may add the "with Marching" designation to their Symphonic Band class.  Marching Band counts as an extra 0.5 credit for high school students.  7th and 8th grade students may join as well at the recommendation and permission of Mr. Alford.

While Marching Band is a large time commitment and requires hard work, this activity can be quite enjoyable and teach a lot of life lessons.  Throughout August, September, October, and November, students participate in competitions, football games, and parades.

Because of the athletic nature of Marching Band, all participants are required to have a VHSL Physical on file with the school.  Any physical obtained after May 1 is valid through June 30 of the succeeding year.
